Performs a variety of complex and highly responsible administrative and program support for assigned student services program or location.Initiates, develops and maintains strong relationships with students to ensure student access and success within specific program guidelines. Actively collaborates with the external educational and student services area staff and with internal program staff to identify and use innovative and engaging practices to maximize student success especially for students requiring additional financial or academic assistance. Demonstrates leadership to encourage and model a holistic approach to programming and student support.This job class is a classified administrator position and requires strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Promotes a positive atmosphere and facilitates cooperation and collaboration as a representative of the assigned program in interactions with the campus community and outside agencies and schools. College to Career (C2C) is a student services program funded by the California Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) that focuses on preparing students with intellectual disabilities and Autism with the necessary skills, education, and experiences to work towards competitive employment.CLASSIFICATION: Range 20 on the Administrative Confidential Salary Schedule, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year. Work assignment hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00p.m., Monday through Friday. This is a classified administrator position with a default CalPERS retirement.SUPERVISOR: Assistant Superintendent/Vice President of Student Services or designeeTypical Duties, Knowledge and AbilityEssential Functions:
  • Provides guidance for assigned program or location, implementing specific activities and services in alignment with program guidelines to promote access to resources to facilitate post-secondary enrollment, student success, and follow up and retention interventions
  • Administers day-to-day activities and operations of the assigned program or location, implements and reviews annual program goals, determines and establishes program procedures
  • Assists students in understanding and navigating academic and college systems, including admissions, financial aid, academic counseling, course registration, online learning management system, and college support programs
  • Develops, coordinates, and conducts workshops and activities for students
  • Provides day-to-day leadership and works with staff to ensure a high performance, customer service-oriented work environment
  • May oversee hiring, onboarding, supervision, and evaluation of classified staff and student workers
  • Monitors student academic performance and engagement, providing guidance and referrals to academic and students services resources as needed
  • Identifies and actively recruits qualified students, assisting students with application paperwork, and making recommendations for final selection into assigned program
  • Oversees the creation and maintenance of student program-related records and contacts; follow proper paperwork and record keeping processes and adhere to all program deadlines
  • Assists in preparing announcements, newsletters, and other forms of communication regarding program-related events, activities, and initiatives.
  • In collaboration with appropriate manager/supervisor, gathers, reviews, and maintains student success data, makes recommendations for implementing initiatives to promote student success, and identifies tools including technology to track support services and outcomes
  • Resolves issues to ensure that program objectives and policies are properly implemented
  • Monitors and controls expenditures in line with program budget; prepares and submits required grant/contract, federal, and institutional fiscal and accounting records
  • Promotes post-secondary access by involvement in various community and public school forums, boards, and committees
  • Research and consult with college and community support services and organizations to identify available resources and address student needs
  • Understands and implements all processes necessary for achieving grant and funding objectives where applicable
  • Works collaboratively with college and community educators on referrals and student records
  • Coordinates and leads individual meetings and/or small group workshops for students, and community members on topics related to access to post-secondary education
Knowledge of:
  • The K-12 California public educational system as well as community college, UC, CSU, and private postsecondary systems
  • General academic and financial assistance procedures
  • Programs and resources to support community college students
  • Federal, state, and district regulations and laws regarding assigned program goals and objectives, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), California Education Code, Title 5, and the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of K-12 and community college students
  • Specialized technical and administrative principles, practices, and procedures of the assigned programs
  • Computer and applicable software programs including database, spreadsheet, and word processing software
  • Support service needs and resources for students from backgrounds that have not prepared them for college readiness
  • Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary for oral and written professional communication
  • Public speaking and basic marketing
Ability to:
  • Engage, motivate and empower others, particularly students whose backgrounds have not prepared them for postsecondary educational settings
  • Relate well and work effectively in a collaborative manner with all segments of the K- 12 and college community
  • Promote inclusion and contributions of individuals from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Conduct program activities in alignment with funding objectives and budget
  • Plan, organize, and complete assignments with limited supervision, while meeting deadlines and specific program goals and objectives

Experience/EducationEducation/Experience Required:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in Education, Social Work, Social Science, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in building positive relationships, motivating and supporting low income and potential first-generation students
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students, as well as staff members and students with physical and/or learning disabilities
Experience Preferred:
  • Significant experience in coordinating and implementing programs designed to assist students in post-secondary education
  • Experience managing a caseload of students, working with individuals as well as groups
