Summary:
The Colville School District is now accepting applications for an Assistant Varsity Track & Field Coach to assist with and take responsibility for the entire Track & Field program grades K-12 by teaching/coaching basic and advanced skills to Track & Field athletes/coaches involved in school district and community programs, and promoting a positive environment for all students while adhering to the WIAA Interscholastic Rules and Regulations.
Essential Duties:
* Work as a positive and collaborative member of the Colville School District Athletic staff to foster the primary goals of the Athletics program, Colville High School and the Colville School District.
* Incorporate and promote a positive environment for all student athletes that nurtures self-esteem, high values, and life-long learning while teaching and coaching the track and field team members grades 9-12.
* Be a positive role model for young people to emulate. Model high standards of morality, integrity, character, and sportsmanship. Be principled and beyond reproach ethically.
* Be positive, enthusiastic, and patient with player growth during each athlete's experience.
* Prepare program goals and objectives plus philosophical guidelines to Activities Director, feeder coaches, parents and community.
* Communicate with head coach in regards to drills, techniques, and handling of discipline in order to build continuity and consistency in the program.
* Attend a pre-season meeting with the coaching staff.
* Complete annual online WIAA Rules clinic.
* Evaluate players in early season assignment of teams and/or cuts.
* Be responsible for summer camps, summer program (weightlifting, open gym, etc.), and supervision of off-season programs at the head coaches discretion.
* Seek growth as a coach by attending camps, clinics, and pursuing other opportunities to learn current trends and teaching techniques.
* Run a vigorous and well-organized practice with a specific practice schedule which includes specific objectives and goals for each day's practice.
* Supervise locker room prior to, during and after all practices and games. No student athletes are allowed in locker room without an adult supervisor.
* Coordinate with Athletic Director on all transportation needs and requests. School bus pick-up and drop-off will be at the rear of the school.
* Maintain discipline on all bus trips and athletic events.
* Ensure that all student-athletes have transportation home after practices or games. Once the last student has left the campus, lock and secure all doors.
* Use Final Forms to check eligibility of athletes and maintain records.
* Have a current first-aid card with a copy on file with the Athletic Director.
* Have a current favorable reporting of a state and national fingerprinting background check on file with the Colville School District.
* Carry with you, at all times, Medical Information/Waiver forms and Medical First Aid kit.
* Supervise the cleanliness of all facilities.
* Check out and check in all equipment and uniforms to student athletes. Maintain records of pre-season and post-season inventory and turn in a copy to the Activities Director on specified date.
* Coordinate with Athletic Director to ensure games crew, field/court set-up, and officials are in place for each home contest.
* Check out keys from High School Office Secretary and check in keys within two weeks of the conclusion of the season.
* Fill out and turn in an accident report form for all accidents within 24 hours to the High School Office.
* Represent Colville High School and the Colville School District in a positive manner that reflects the best in sportsmanship.
* Support all Colville School District extra-curricular activities through actions and words of support.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

* Two to four years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
* A favorable reporting of a state and national background check is required.
* Ability to calculate figures and amounts as needed.
* Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
* Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
* Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) preferred.
* Teaching certificate and/or appropriate endorsements for the job assignment preferred.
* Valid first aid/CPR card on file with the Activities Director, and attend a HIV/Hepatitis B seminar on a yearly basis and have it recorded on file with the Colville School District office.
* Current documentation on file that is required for the coaches standards and education program.
