(Student) Campus Assistant-LansingWORK LOCATION:Lansing

POSITION PAY RANGE: $12.00 - 12.50, Hourly
TARGET HIRING RANGE:Actual pay offered will be commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience, the type of role, pay equity and available funding.SUMMARY:This position acts as a general assistant to the department and/or campus, performing clerical office functions related to daily operations as well as assisting the department. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion.RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for creating, maintaining and updating files and record keeping systems.Generate reports, memorandums, correspondence, presentation materials, spreadsheets and graphics, and other materials using various software programs.Sort and distribute incoming mail and faxes.Assist with special events and functions as needed.May be responsible for greeting visitors, as well as answering and routing incoming calls.Schedule and confirm appointments.Handle documents while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.Conduct special projects, research and assignments as needed.Answer multi-line phone system and route calls appropriately.Provide GREAT customer service, anticipating and exceeding the needs of our customers.Demonstrate and promote the University Cultural Values.Understand and abide by all external and internal regulations and policies.This includes NCAA, GLIAC and national affiliations associated within athletics or other role specific regulations.Perform other duties as assigned.Library
Assist with shelving library materials and maintaining organized library stacks.Process and maintain reserve materials.Participate with inventory process.Maintain computer lab printersMonitor computers and report any problems to staff in a timely manner.Monitor students to ensure that rules and procedures are being followed.Assist in media equipment management.Provide instructional guidance for users of copy machines and other library equipment.QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Must be eligible for federal work study.
- Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours as an undergraduate student or 3 credit hours as a graduate student while meeting the standards of academic progress.
- Experience in office setting preferred but not required.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe).
- Excellent interpersonal skills that transcend diverse audiences; communicating to university customers with positive attitudes toward change, confidentiality, and conflict resolution.
- Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). Some travel between locations may be required (own transportation). No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.
