Effective educators recognize individual students' strengths and needs, and use multiple strategies to help all students be successful while creating collaborative, equitable, safe, and welcoming communities of learners.The job of a Emergency Guest (Substitute) Teacher is to facilitate student success in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of students providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.Essential Functions
  • Teach to district approved course goals and objectives.
  • Instruct pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified by state law and administrative regulations of the school district.
  • Provide individual and group instruction so that each pupil can achieve scholastic educational objectives.
  • Use instructional materials suitable for the instruction of pupils with wide ranges of mental, physical, and emotional maturation.
  • Maintain standard of pupil behavior needed to achieve effective participation in all activities.
  • Maintain records as required or appropriate.
  • Subscribe to the notion student success is a teacher's paramount responsibility .
  • Supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned periods.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements: Minimum QualificationsSkills, Knowledge and AbilitiesSKILLS are required to perform single, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: controlling and motivating students; maintaining accurate records; and using pertinent software applications; adhering to safety practices; operating standard office equipment.KNOWLEDGE is required of best professional practices in math. Must be able to perform algebra and/or geometry; read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge required to perform satisfactorily the functions of the job includes: knowledge of state and federal laws that govern school districts, age appropriate activities, stages of child development, and safety practices and procedures.ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather, collate, and/or classify data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work independently or with others in a wide variety of circumstances; to work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and to operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; to work with similar types of data; and to utilize specific, job-related equipment. Independent problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is moderate to significant.
