AECOM is seeking Traffic Monitoring Dispatcher(s) based in Miami, FL for the Greater Miami Expressway (GMX). The starting pay will be $18.00hr.

Traffic Management Center Operators (TMC Operators) work as part of a team of transportation professionals in the Greater Miami Expressway (GMX) Traffic Management Center (TMC). TMC Operator's primary responsibilities are to monitor roadway activities in order to identify, communicate and dispatch resources in response to traffic events and congestion on the MDX. The duties are similar to those of a 911 dispatcher within a fast-paced, call center environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Dispatches Road Rangers to manage traffic events.
  • Manages traffic events including the monitoring of roadways to detect events, confirming events, and monitoring of events through the phases via CCTV.
  • Disseminates information to the public via 511/Florida Traveler Information System (FLATIS) and Greater Miami Expressway (GMX) Dynamic Message Signs (DMS), regional Traffic Management Center (TMC)s, and other responding agencies.
  • Adheres to the guidelines set forth in the Standard Operating Guidelines (SOG).
  • Completes shift change reports as required by the SOG.
  • Handles calls from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) communications center and other agencies, advising them of events along the highway.
  • Monitors Road Ranger activity including the monitoring of the Automatic Vehicle Loader (AVL) system to provide oversight of the Road Ranger operations.
  • Manages events to include monitoring the roadways, detecting events, monitoring the events, collecting information and disseminating information.
  • Monitors 511/FLATIS website to ensure correct information is being reported.
  • Monitors FHP website to collect information and to ensure correct information is being reported.
  • Completes required logs accurately and within the set time frame.
  • Coordinates with partner TMC (District VI, FL Turnpike) ensuring seamless information to the public.
  • Understands and abides by the standards set forth for ethical behavior and integrity as detailed in the Code of Business Conduct.
  • Performs all other duties prescribed by management.
  • Qualifications:

    Minimum Requirements:

    • High school diploma.
    • Must pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check; must also successfully complete Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) Joint Task Force (JTF) / State Law Enforcement Radio System (SLERS) fingerprint-based Criminal History Records Check (CHRC).
    • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
    • Constantly operate a computer and other monitoring equipment.
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time monitoring Intelligent Transportation Systems such as CCTV camera displays, meters, law enforcement radio broadcasts, answering/responding to calls and communicating to other staff or partner agencies.

    • Must be able to multi-task, working in a fast-paced environment, meeting tight deadlines in a timely manner. Demonstrates flexibility by adjusting readily to changing priorities.
    • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and be able to effectively and tactfully communicate with many levels of personnel in a variety of environments.
    • Must have strong computer skills to be able to efficiently use the software provided to maintain the operation and required data.
    • Fluent English reading and writing skills to be able to read and understand guidance for day-to-day work requirements.
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule associated with the following shifts:
      • AM/PM Shift Hours: 6:00am to 6:30pm / 6:00 am to 2:30pm / 2:00pm to 10:30pm / 10:30pm to 6:30am.
    • Able to work weekends, evenings, holidays and flexible hours when necessary.
