Position Summary
The Facilities Assistant position is designed to give practical support by providing light maintenance, community donation coordination, and basic supportive services needs for the designated facility(is) programs, members, and staff. The position is designed to provide on-site services five (5) days per week, which may include weekends.
Essential Functions
+ Perform necessary daily cleaning activities, such as dusting, mopping, trash/cardboard removal, etc.
+ Clean and restock all restrooms, kitchen, and sanctuary areas daily.
+ Clean and help maintain all rooms/offices by sweeping, mopping, wiping down walls, windows, appliances etc., weekly.
+ Use protective equipment (i.e. gloves, face mask, etc.) when using cleaning supplies or spraying chemicals.
+ Keep all outside areas (including parking lot) free of trash and debris.
+ Maintain current inventory of all cleaning supplies, restocking as needed; notify supervisor when reorders are needed.
+ Provide regular status reports to the Program Manager regarding issues resolved, those needing attention, and those currently in progress; report all incidents of property damage immediately.
+ Perform weekly donation pickups from community partners.
+ Keep all vehicle driving and maintenance records complete and up to date for the two service vehicles.
+ Maintain the cleanliness of TSA vehicles.
+ Utilize and supervise individuals who are fulfilling Community Service at our facility.
Working Conditions
Must be able to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Must be able to grasp, push and pull objects such as general office and small recreational equipment. Must be able to lift to 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Over 18 years old
+ GED or HS diploma
+ Valid CA Driver's License
+ Criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
+ Preferred (1) year experience in maintenance
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
+ Working knowledge of Salvation Army policies, procedures, and programs, as well as a compassionate understanding and adherence to Salvation Army ministry and mission.
+ Preferred experience as a maintenance worker or other similar position, preferably in a shelter or residential setting
+ Ability to interact effectively with people of all ages, ethnic and cultural diversity.
+ Capability to work both independently and within a team environment.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
