The Birmingham Barons are looking for an enthusiastic Merchandise Intern to provide support to our management team excellent customer service to our patrons. A Merchandise Intern assists the Director of Retail Sales in the day-to-day operation of the Sports Depot Retail Department. The ideal candidate will be able to learn quickly and function in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Reports To: Director of Retail SalesDepartment: RetailEmployee Type: SeasonalStatus Type: Full-TimeFLSA: Non-ExemptCompensation: HourlyRate Range: $7.25/hourResponsibilities•Assisting customers and actively selling during operating hours•Keeping eyes on guests at all times as to be attentive to them and their needs•Being knowledgeable of the products currently in stock and where they are located•Assisting with tarp pulls when necessary•Delivering pocket schedules•Distribute promotional items designed to help increase fan spirit and attendance at games•Interact with fans before, during and after the games•Receiving orders and conducting monthly inventory•Supervision of hourly Sports Depot employees•Keeping the floor space clean and free of fallen items•Keeping the Sports Depot sales floor and stock room stocked and organized•Keeping upbeat atmosphere before, during and after games•Occasional mascot/player appearances, participation in promotions including on-field activities and enter/exit gate sampling, and distribution of marketing material•Other duties as assignedQualifications:•Ability to meet deadlines and balance multiple tasks•Ability to work effectively in a team environment•Ability to possess a strong, yet positive leadership skill•Flexibility to work long days, evenings, weekends, and holidays•Must be able to problem solve quickly, work efficiently in an intense environment•Sales, merchandising and money handling experience is a plus, but not required•Self-motivated, organized, and detail oriented•Some heavy lifting is required•Electronic and computer proficiencyGeneral Physical Requirements:•Ability to lift 25 lbs up to 50 lbs•Ability to stand for up to 5+ hours during a game•Ability to work long hours, weekends & holidays•Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, including but not limited to rain and heatCompany Description:The Birmingham Barons are the proud Double-A affiliate of the Chicago White Sox.
