The 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) program provides high-quality after-school enrichment opportunities for elementary students in a safe and engaging environment. Located in a DOE school in the Bronx, the program focuses on academic support, social-emotional development, and family engagement activities.

The Part-Time Program Assistant will support the day-to-day operations of the after-school program. This role is essential in ensuring the program runs smoothly, students are safe, engaged, and staff have the support they need to deliver high-quality programming. The Program Assistant will report directly to the Site Manager and work collaboratively with program staff, school administration, and families.

  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm in accordance with the NYC DOE calendar. The Home does not operate when schools are closed or on early dismissal days. Mandatory training sessions and meetings will be held each month outside of regular program times.

The salary range for this position is $$23-$27 an hour.

How You'll Be Making a Difference

  • Administrative Support: Assist the Site Manager with daily administrative tasks, including attendance tracking, maintaining student files, and coordinating schedules.
  • Program Operations: Help ensure all materials and supplies are prepared for daily activities and assist in set-up and clean-up of program spaces.
  • Staff Support: Provide support to Activity Specialists and Group Leaders by assisting with classroom management and transitions between activities.
  • Student Engagement: Supervise and engage with students during program activities, snack time, and dismissal to ensure their safety and positive experience.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between the program, families, and school staff to share updates and address concerns.
  • Compliance: Assist with maintaining compliance with 21st CCLC and DOE policies, including documentation for program licensing and site visits.
  • Special Projects: Support family engagement events, enrichment activities, and other program initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework in education, social work, or related fields preferred.
  • 2 years of experience working with elementary-aged children in an educational or youth development setting.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with DOE schools and 21st CCLC programs is a plus.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all students and families.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
