A high school diploma/GED Physical health that will allow them to complete their duties Pass a District paid background check History of working in a school setting and experience in cleaning and maintenance a plus Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find acceptable. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. Physically capable of safely lifting, shoveling and/or carrying at least 75lbs.; general cleaning (dusting, sweeping, mopping, washing, polishing, scrubbing) of floors, walls, windows, washrooms, chalkboards, etc.; able to use basic tools (hammer, screwdriver, pliers) to handle light maintenance/repair duties; perform mechanical functions such as painting; replace fluorescent light bulbs; operate machines such as scrubbers & carpet cleaners; climb & work overhead on a twelve-foot ladder; safely handle, properly mix, and apply harsh chemicals; repetitious bending/working in constricted areas; read and understand instructions such as Material Safety Data Sheets, etc.; comply w/regulations such as Blood Borne Pathogens, etc.; submit written reports on safety & problematic issues; adaptability/flexibility to respond to situations & problems as they arise; take directives well; maintain a positive, courteous demeanor with students and staff; able to function well in a team setting Temperament: Ability to work as a member of a team. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Clean classrooms, bathrooms and halls. Dust mop and sweep floors daily Wet mop or run floor scrubber daily. Clean any marks on walls daily. Clean white boards. Disinfect desks in rooms daily. Dust all ledges and areas that accumulate dust. Clean windows on doors daily. Clean and disinfect water fountains daily. Dust all locker tops. Clean all marks on lockers. Clean and disinfect all sinks, toilets and urinals daily. Empty all sanitary boxes and replace liners daily. Refill all soap, paper towel and toilet paper dispensers daily. Wash all entry glass daily. Empty garbage cans and take all garbage to dumpsters and make sure the lids are closed daily. Replace burned out light bulbs. Report any maintenance needs or repairs to the Director of Building and Operations. Additional duties as assigned. Up to 90 day probationary period at start of position. Probationary Period: New hires will begin with a probationary period of up to 90 days, designed to assess suitability for the role and alignment with organizational values. During this time, employees will receive training, and their performance will be closely evaluated to ensure they meet the expectations of the position and perform effectively. Work hours and schedules will be determined by the supervisor. Benefits eligibility will commence once the probationary period has been successfully completed.
