Role: 6th Grade ELA TeacherReports to: PrincipalWork Site: The Main Street Academy; College Park, GAFLSA Status: Salary Exempt; Benefits EligibleJob Summary: The Main Street Academy (TMSA) is seeking an experienced middle school ELA teacher. The ELA teacher is responsible to plan and model targeted instructional strategies. The ELA teacher provides instructional technology skills and possesses knowledge of curriculum materials, content standards, and assessments. The role will be responsible to understand and demonstrate the importance of effective communication with students, school personnel, and parents. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited university (Conferred)
Certification/Licensure
- Must hold a Georgia certificate in applicable field verifiable by the GaPSC
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement student instruction and assessment in ELA to achieve ELA curriculum objectives
- Work effectively with small groups of struggling ELA students at all levels
- Analyze formal and informal data on student achievement in ELA in order to inform instructional planning
- Identify and select appropriate ELA instructional materials aligned to content standards and assists classroom teachers in doing the same
- Implement relevant information from research and professional literature on best practices in ELA instruction
- Accurately complete student data assessment analysis and provide informative reports
- Other duties as deemed necessary by the Principal and Assistant Principals
Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to demonstrate and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and building principal
- Experienced in collaborating with teacher teams and adapting work to the needs of teachers and students
- Knowledge and demonstration of using innovative skills in instruction (analytical thinking, problem solving, communicating, collaborating, and finding and evaluating information)
- Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to utilize technology for communication and instruction to work with parents, students, and other service agencies
- Demonstrate organizational skills and initiative for working with minimal direct supervision
- Knowledge and experience using technology for communication, data analysis, gathering and organizing information for presentations
- A working knowledge of current research and resources in math instruction
- Proficient use of the computer
- Maintain confidentiality
