As a division of the San Francisco District Attorney's Office, the Bureau of Investigations consists of Sworn Peace Officers per Section 830.1 of the California Penal Code. Under general direction, plans, organizes, supervises, and participates in the activities of one or more investigative units in the District Attorney's Office Bureau of Investigations. Assists in training and providing support for lower-level investigators and participates in more sensitive and complex criminal and civil investigations under the direction of the Chief Investigator.

Appointee may be assigned to work outside of normal office hours including evenings and weekends. Appointee may have to travel outside of the county, state, or country on official business.
