The Athletics Department is seeking a dedicated, dynamic, and experienced 8th Grade Head Baseball Coach for its Middle School Athletics program beginning mid-February 2025. Successful candidates will possess a strong background in coaching with an ability to provide leadership and direction to student-athletes, inspiring and motivating them to perform at high levels. The ideal candidate demonstrates a sincere interest in the social, emotional, academic and athletic development of student-athletes, understanding the highest priority is the health, safety and welfare of students.
General Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Athletics, the Baseball Coach is a part-time, seasonal position that is primarily responsible for the baseball program within the Athletics Department. The Baseball Coach will assist the Director of Athletics in the development of a consistent, high-level training philosophy for the entire sport program. The Baseball Coach primarily works in the Collegiate gyms in addition to traveling for away games. This position has primary responsibilities to build a strong team culture, develop the skills of players and instill confidence and community values with our student-athletes.
Commitment:
Practice Times: M 3:15 - 4:00 pm, T-W-Th 2:30 - 4:15 pm (Times can vary slightly according to practice site)
Games: Typically on T and Th - lasting 6-7 innings plus travel. Afternoon game start times vary - either 3:30 or 4:15
Season: Feb 24 - May 29 No practice over spring break or holidays (approximately 40 days).
Essential Duties:
- Develops a strong team culture and teaches to the core values of the Athletic Department;
- Assists in the development of a long-term program vision, plan, and curriculum for the entire baseball program;
- Displays leadership and professional behavior and communication in dealing with student-athletes, parents, staff, and administrators;
- Develops a strong working relationship with assistant coach/es, mentoring when necessary;
- Completes and/or assists with all administrative duties including, but not limited to: tryouts and roster management, game-day operations, scheduling, score reporting, transportation, management of staff and student-managers, CPR and other trainings, distribution and collection of uniforms, attendance at coaches' meetings, communication with internal and external constituents, attendance and participation at school and athletic department special events, and other administrative duties as assigned.

- Supports the mission of the School and the Athletics Department, while positively and effectively leading the student-athletes and managers;

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university desired. Middle School, High School, or College coaching experience a plus.
Special Requirements:
- Must be able to complete a background check with fingerprint clearance.
- Must possess or obtain, prior to the start of the season, current First Aid and CPR certification.

Physical Conditions and Work Contacts: Regularly required to stand; walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and/or up to 30 lbs. frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly to move objects.
