JOB SUMMARYThis is an entry-level professional technical position under the general direction of the Senior Director of GIS & Cadastral Services. This position provides skilled abstract work for the development and maintenance of the tax roll. Work includes research and analysis on specialized property transactions and is performed with a high degree of responsibility and independence.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Conducts research, validates and compiles all pertinent data from the Brevard County public record pursuant to various legal instruments to create new property records
- Maintains the assessment roll through abstracting of title and cadastral mapping methodologies. Utilizes Geographic Information System (GIS) software and Computer Aided Mass Appraisal (CAMA) systems. Processes all updates and changes in land boundaries resulting from property splits, parcel combinations and creation of new subdivisions and condominiums.
- Provides assistance to all PAO staff, the public, and various governmental agencies in reference to reviewing property legal descriptions. Reviews changes in property ownership, changes in parcel configuration and property title research as it relates to the accuracy of the assessment roll.
- Troubleshoots and provides applicable notification to all parties involved when errors, anomalies or inconsistencies are discovered within legal instruments to resolve and avoid transferring such errors into the assessment roll.
- Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK - Associate or technical degree in a specialized field (e.g., geography, cadastral mapping, property, and title abstract), two (2) years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One or more of the following designations is required at hire:
- Certified Cadastralist of Florida (CCF),
- Certified Cadastral Mapper (CCM),
- Certified Master Cadastralist of Florida (MCF)
- Certified Florida Evaluator (CFE)
- If not in possession at hire, successful completion of the Certified Cadastralist of Florida (CCF) training program and receipt of the CCF designation is required within two (2) years.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing the functions of this job, the employee is continuously required to stand, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear; frequently required to walk; and the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, continuously lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
