This position will be responsible for assisting with the implementation of a holistic advisement and student retention program; demonstrate and practice student centeredness; and foster close professional relationships with students both graduate and undergraduate. This position will work collaboratively with all departments (English, Elementary Education, and all non-certification) and programs to ensure accurate, appropriate, and timely services for students and additional retention, progression, graduation services and student population throughout the College of Education. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Advise prospective and current students about academic requirements and selection of courses
- Complete student checklists, disseminates information on university policies and procedures to faculty, parents, students, etc.
- Maintain students' records updated throughout their academic careers and makes changes to records as necessary
- Plan and participate in university and college recruitment events
- Analyze and process requests for readmission from academic exclusion and provide retention services for students
- Assist in conducting orientation sessions for groups of incoming students as needed
- Audit student records for curriculum, major and graduation requirements; evaluates and determines potential course substitution requests for transfer students
- Compare transcripts with entrance and graduation requirements, and advises students on appropriate actions
- Refer student to appropriate support services or departments and evaluates and maintains student records for degree requirements using academic evaluation system
- Monitor student registration activities and academic performance/progress
- Coordinate communications to students utilizing intentional advising plan to engage students regarding personal and professional goals, courses scheduling, core and major requirements, academic recourses, etc.
- Monitor and track the retention, academic progression, and graduation of all students within assigned populations (undergraduate and graduate in the College of Education, and performs other duties as assigned
