- Advises students on academic, career and personal issues. Identifies the educational and career options appropriate for each student and assists with the analysis of each option plan for the student to explore alterative majors.
- Identifies students at-risk for academic failure and develops and implements strategies to drive student success. Manages and communicates effectively academic suspension, and satisfactory academic progress policies.
- Identifies options for students to satisfy degree requirements. Evaluates an makes recommendations on changes to students' program of study and assists students with completion of the required forms.
- Monitors student academic progress. Analyzes progress. Analyzes progress and attend dance reports for instructors. Identifies potential needs or problem areas and refers students to appropriate campus resources for assistance and communicates findings.
- Assists with the registration processes to include informing students of all services of the Career and Student Success department and other campus-wide resources.
- Maintains confidential student files and records to include advising folders, mandatory assessments. and student grades.
- Provides and supports a sound testing and evaluation environment for all students.
- Participates in each semester orientation process. Instructs classes in Freshman Orientation and Academic Probation.
- Assists in articulating programs in schools, parent groups, faculty, and staff alike in the areas of professional growth for students and the institution.
Minimum and Additional RequirementsBachelor's degree and experience in student services programs.Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to relate and effectively communicate with students, faculty, staff, parents, and the general public.
- Considerable knowledge of counseling procedures.
- Knowledge of the policies and procedures affecting the assigned program area(s); basic principles and theories of student development and educational administration.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, and staff. Knowledge of Accuplacer and other standardized testing procedures.
