Academic Services Center (ASC) Director
Description
Under the supervision of the Provost & Executive Vice President, the Academic Services Center (ASC) Director promotes academic excellence and student success throughout the entire academic experience. This newly created position is funded through the U.S. Department of Education 5 year Title 3 grant.
The ASC Director will be responsible for the following:
* Oversight of academic support, career, and accessibility services;
* Supervision of ASC staff;
* Be able to explain and/or clarify academic policies and procedures, develop and facilitate study skills and success strategies;
* Assemble data for Academic Action each semester and create success plans with students who are academic at-risk or on probation;
* Oversee efforts to reengage students who have left the college;
* Participate in the college-wide development of resources and services aimed at meeting the academic demands of the student body, and contribute to the development of resources;
* Develop collaborative relationships with faculty, student life and enrollment to promote retention initiatives;
* Prepare the departmental budget and compile a comprehensive annual report; compile data, generate statistics and prepare reports;
* Consult and collaborate with faculty/staff to identify areas of academic concern, intervene with appropriate services and promote inclusive environments for all students;
* Actively participate in the Title III Steering Committee, Academic Standards Committee, and other committees as needed.
* Maintain and update the Departmental web site;
* Work directly with the Project Director to facilitate on-campus training sessions. Work with the faculty and staff on the implementation and coordination of the development workshops and travel to institutes, workshops, and conferences.
* Serve on a committee for mini-grants and provide regular reports to the Project Director on development activities.
* Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
* Master's degree in Education or related field.
* 3-5 years of experience working in the higher education environment.
* Experience in managing an academic caseload including documentation of records, communication with students, ability to problem solve, and make appropriate referrals.
* Experience in accessibility services.
* Experience and success in delivery of direct intervention services to targeted students.
* Experience in developing and implementing success strategies for students who fall below good academic standing.
Compensation: $75,000 - $80,000 salary range
