Provides operational support at the Levelland campus. Trains and supervises student employees in their area. Follows and enforces departmental policies, and organizes and communicates work flows for workers including assigned duties and student assistance with basic computer technology skills. Other duties as assigned. Reports to the Public Services Librarian.HOURS:During Fall and Spring Semesters: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM-4:00 PM, or 12:00-8:00 PM.Summer Hours: Monday - Friday 8 AM to 4 PM.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Include the following. - Coordinates the daily operations of the circulation department under the direct management of the Public Services Librarian. This includes the scheduling of student workers.
- Implements and provides training on circulation department policies and procedures for all student employees upon hiring and at regular intervals as deemed necessary by the Public Services Librarian and Library Director.
- Provides general information to the students, faculty, staff, and community members.
- Coordinates with supervisor to ensure that job opening information is posted for student employment for the department.
- Ability to complete work in a timely manner both individually and in group settings.
- Ensures safekeeping of physical resources.
- Responsible for cash management related to circulation services.
- Responsible for lamination services.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean and professional environment.
- Responsible for answering circulation inquiries in person, by phone, and digitally.
- Maintains accurate and current departmental records.
- Responsible for maintaining accurate inventory and locating missing items.
- Actively and professionally communicates with supervisors and subordinates.
- Participates in regular departmental meetings and check-ins.
- Completes various tasks as assigned by direct supervisor and Library Director in a timely and efficient manner.
- May assist in coordinating with other departments on tasks and training of employees.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:Directly supervises numerous student workers. Responsibilities include training student employees; working with the Pubic Services Librarian and Director of Libraries in planning, assigning, and directing the students' work; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records. Ability to effectively present information to faculty and other college employees.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to calculate figures and amounts and develop statistical information.
