Position Function:The Academics, Campus Life, Community Involvement, Employment Opportunity, Socialization, Self-Awareness (ACCESS) Employment Coordinator primary responsibilities include internship placement and coordination, the development of employability and career management skills, employment partner recruitment, basic employment course instructor, and support employment related correspondence with MDRS staff. ACCESS is a comprehensive transition program. Students with intellectual and developmental disabilities audit university courses and enroll in specific courses taught through ACCESS to assist students in developing greater independent living skills and employment and career skills. Students typically reside on campus during the first years in the program and some transition to apartment living prior to graduation.Salary Grade: 14Please see Staff Compensation Structure or Skilled Crafts and Service Maintenance Compensation Schedule for salary ranges. For salary grade UC, these positions are Unclassified and salary ranges are determined by the hiring department.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:1. Maintain and strengthen existing employment partner relationships and develop new relationships for ACCESS internship sites located on the MSU campus and in the Starkville community.2. Coordinate employment supports for students placed in internships such as navigation guides, MDRS job coaches, and employment interventions to improve soft/hard skill development.3. Administer evaluation process for ACCESS internships where employment coordinator and student intern receive monthly feedback from internship site supervisor during the 12-week internship each semester.4. Educate students on career management process and soft skill expectations of employers through teaching students enrolled in the On-Campus Employment and Off-Campus Employment courses.5. Instruct students on what it takes to retain employment through a weekly employment lab and teaching Basic Employment: Maintaining Employment class.6. Assist students in navigating a realistic career path through monthly meetings with students and teaching the Basic Employment: Career Exploration class.7. Provide support to MSU Financial Aid Department's Maroon Money Mentor program providing financial literacy instruction to ACCESS seniors.8. Develop and/or update curriculum for ACCESS employment courses.9. Create differentiated levels of support for interview skills sessions based on individual student need.10. Partner with local representatives of MDRS and Ability Works to provide ACCESS students with career assessments, job coaches at internships, and financial aid assistance.11. Assist the DRC with proctoring or other staffing needed during final exams fall and spring semesters.12. Assist ACCESS sophomores and juniors with applying for MDRS's Summer Internship Program and assist seniors with applying for job placement services after graduation.13. Assist with on-call coverage (typically an average of one weekend per month fall and spring semesters).14. Keep ACCESS Assistant Director and Director informed of needs and concerns related to student behavior and progress through staff meetings and individual supervision.15. Help to staff ACCESS summer camp, typically three days in May and/or June.16. Assist in selection of ACCESS students, including reviewing applications and participating in interview days.17. Perform other related duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Minimum: Bachelor's degreeFocus: Any degree area (required)Preferred Qualifications:1. Ability to use a variety of database and spreadsheet programs.6. Strong technological skills.7. Comfortable with multi-tasking and meeting stringent deadlines.Working Conditions and Physical Effort1. Requires limited lifting of files and records up to 25 pounds. Work is primarily performed in an indoor in a temperature-controlled facility.2. Frequent externally imposed deadlines; interruptions influence priorities; difficult to anticipate nature or volume of work with certainty beyond a few days; meeting of deadlines and coordination of unrelated activities are key to position; involves conflict-resolution or similar interactions involving emotional issues or stress on a regular basis.3.
