The City of Phoenix Water Services Department (WSD), one of the nation's largest potable water utilities, treats and delivers safe, reliable drinking water to 1.5 million customers across approximately 540 square miles. Phoenix Water Services also manages the sewer collection system and treats wastewater for 2.5 million residents in metropolitan Phoenix.

WSD is currently seeking to fill multiple Account Clerk III positions within the Internal Business Support and Customer Services divisions. Account Clerk IIIs perform highly skilled paraprofessional accounting work using computerized systems.

Additional duties may include:

Internal Business Support:

* Scanning/validating documents into the Vendor Invoice Management System (VIM).

* Auditing/reviewing scanned invoices for errors or discrepancies and making necessary corrections prior to releasing the invoice for payment.

* Reconciling payable statements, disbursing payments, and maintaining records.

* Responding to inquiries and requests for information (over the phone and via email) from vendors, customers, and staff from other City departments.

* Conducting research to keep accounts current.

Customer Services:

* Providing direct customer service.

* Reviewing and/or auditing financial records.

* Detecting and taking steps to correct errors or discrepancies.

* Coordinating, preparing, and verifying City computer data.

* Creating, reviewing, and/or auditing utility billing.

* Reconciling accounts.

* Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

* Strong communication skills.

* Exceptional computer skills.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.

* Ability to speak, read, and write in Spanish

* Ability to direct, review, and supervise the work of others.

* Ability to multi-task and work in a high-paced work environment.

* Comfortable working in a heavy customer service environment.

SALARY

Pay Range: $19.07 to $29.58 per hour.

Hiring Range: $19.07 to $26.83 per hour.

* Pay range is the entire compensation range for the position classification.

* Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Three years of bookkeeping and clerical accounting experience, including experience in preparing financial reports; supplemented by courses in bookkeeping and accounting.

* Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience in/with:

Internal Business Support:

* SAP/SRM.

* Microsoft Word and Excel.

* Purchasing.

* Providing training to internal staff.

* Working as a Team Lead/Supervisor.

* Handling various transactions while working in a heavy customer service environment.

* Reconciling receivable and payable statements, reports, logs, and/or other documents.

* Performing highly detailed data entry in a fast-paced environment and maintaining/auditing records.

Customer Services:

* Utility billing.

* Working in a customer service environment.

* Working with computerized accounting systems such as Customer Care & Billing (CC&B).

* Reconciling receivable and payable statements, reports, logs, and/or other documents.

* Performing highly detailed data entry in a fast-paced environment and maintaining/auditing records.
