Job purpose

The accountant is primarily responsible for applying principles of accounting to analyze financial information and prepare financial reports by performing the following duties.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as prepaids and accrual accounts, documenting business transactions and monthly account reconciliation.
  • Reviews, investigates, and corrects errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
  • Assembles spreadsheets to support journal entries and analysis
  • Performs statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates, and significant changes
  • Analyzes financial information and assists in preparing profit and loss statement, and other monthly reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
  • Assists in month-end close preparation.
  • Participates in enhancing efficiency of projects and business processes with senior accounting staff.
  • Responds to inquiries from and prepares periodic reports to senior management.
  • Monitors compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
  • Assists in various ad hoc projects.

*Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree or comparable education with concentration in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience general accounting.
  • General understanding of accounting processes and functions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills. Ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines timely and accurately in a fast pace working environment.
  • Candidates should have the desire and ability to work as a team player, complete work with accuracy and speed and strive for professional growth within the department and company.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with sophisticated accounting software.

Work Conditions/Physical Requirements

In person position 5 days a week out of our Stamford, CT office. Noise level is low. The ability to work after normal business hours as needed is required.

Direct reports

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
