Gundersen Health System is in search of an Accountant to join our Finance team! If you are a detail-oriented individual in search of an opportunity to work with a great organization--this could be a great opportunity for you!
What You'll Do:
You will be responsible for day to day accounting functions and working with our department managers. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records in the general ledger, review/create financial reports, create/support financial budgets and be a resource for manager to help investigate questions and understanding of their reports. Be familiar with Excel and other financial resources, such as EPIC, StrataJazz, and Lawson.
What's Available:
* Fulltime, 72 hours biweekly (0.9 FTE)
* Schedule: Monday-Friday
* Location: Boscobel, Wisconsin
* Starting pay of $23.41/hr and up, based on your years of experience
What You'll Need:
* Associate degree in Accounting or Finance
* 1 year of accounting experience
* Strong customer service skills and ability to multi-task

Job Description:
To be a key member of the Accounting department; working with the Department Manager to maintain high quality accounting and financial reporting systems for multiple corporate entities; to maintain various transaction-based subsidiary ledgers, reviewing reports, investigating problem situations, preparing and correcting adjustments as required, and making recommendations for process and system improvements as warranted. This position will also represent the Accounting department in meetings as needed.
Major Responsibilities:
* Process required monthly general ledger entries for multiple corporations.
* Design, prepare, and maintain various spreadsheets to support general ledger entries and other reporting and analysis needs.
* Reconcile data on various reports to ensure accuracy as part of the department's check and balances.
* Compile data and prepare backup work papers for various Federal and State Agencies.
* Prepare work papers as required for various financial audits.
* Provide backup/support for internal Accounting department staff as requested by the department manager.
* Compile data for use in the projection/forecast process.
* Perform analysis functions as assigned by the department manager.
* Demonstrate strong skills in the areas of communication, professional judgment, in both team and independent work environments.
* Respond to all levels of management as needed for inquiries and information requests in a timely, accurate and professional manner as they relate to financial statements, budgets, projections and other Accounting related areas.
* Adheres to regular and predictable attendance.
* Performs other job-related responsibilities as assigned by the department manager.
Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
Associate degree in Accounting or Finance
DESIRED
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Work Experience:
REQUIRED
1 year experience in accounting
DESIRED
3-4 years experience in accounting that includes 2+ years of healthcare accounting experience
