Hermiston School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Accounting Clerk. This is a full-time, 12-month position. The successful candidate will provide accounting support for District revenues. Primary daily responsibilities include accounts receivable maintenance, monitoring, billing, collections, banking, and accurately accounting for the District's receipts and other sources of revenue. The position begins immediately. Qualifications:
An associate's degree or higher in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is required. Three years of accounting experience, including processing financial transactions, recordkeeping, and preparing monthly, quarterly, and/or annual reports. Knowledge of governmental accounting is preferred. Intermediate computer skills, including accounting software and PC applications such as Excel, MS Word, 10-key, copier, and other general office equipment/skills. A working knowledge of basic bookkeeping and accounting procedures and the ability to process all data required to produce accurate and timely accounts receivable records and accompanying reports. Ability to apply bookkeeping and accounting principles to the maintenance of accounts receivable, fiscal records, and statements and to locate, retrieve, verify, and interpret moderately complex bookkeeping and accounting records Ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information related to personnel, district financial, collective bargaining, and legal matters. Ability to post data, make mathematical computations rapidly and accurately and follow oral and written directions with high accuracy. Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and work as a team member with department staff. Ability to provide excellent customer service and communicate effectively as an accounting professional in this essential role. Desired Qualifications:
Experience and/or working knowledge of Pentamation payroll and accounting software Knowledge of computerized payroll and benefits systems related to public school accounting. Ability to assist other employees in the Fiscal Department. The successful candidate will be asked to provide the documentation during the on-boarding process. About the Community: The city of Hermiston is a vibrant and growing community of almost 20,000 residents located at the crossroads of the Pacific Northwest, situated near the intersection of I-84 and I-82, just minutes from a Columbia River port and 30 minutes from the Tri-Cities in Washington. Hermiston and the entire Umatilla County area have excellent potential for growth in commercial, industrial, agricultural, as well as residential development. Hermiston boasts over 100 acres for community use, volleyball courts, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, children's play areas, barbeque and picnic areas and more. Located within 10 minutes of downtown Hermiston, both Umatilla and Echo have challenging golf courses. The Columbia River offers tournament level fishing, as well as many water sports including swimming, wind surfing, and boating. Other fishing waters include the Umatilla River, Cold Springs Reservoir and many ponds. Hat Rock State Park is nearby, and the Blue Mountains are within an hour drive, affording a wide variety of fishing, hunting, and camping activities. In the winter, the mountains are home to excellent snow skiing, tubing, snowmobiling, and sledding. Salary and Benefits: The Hermiston School District offers a highly competitive salary and benefits package, which includes PERS retirement employer-paid pick-up and a comprehensive health and benefits package. A full-year contract consists of 259 days (12 months), which includes eight paid holidays and ten paid vacation days (pro-rated for mid-year hires). Hourly salary range: $17.07-$24.02.
