GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: The primary focus of this position is to oversee the Finance department, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective internal controls. This role involves being a hands-on manager while managing a small team, preparing budgets and forecasts, and acting as a project manager for process improvement projects. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES or tasks performed:
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of the company's products and services and understand the corporate goals, strategies and profitability objectives.
- Manage the Finance team and the team's functions including accounts receivable and payable, collections, payroll, financial reporting and analysis, reconciliation of accounts and preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Develop the Finance team, create and improve processes, and support cross-functional efficiencies.
- Prepare budgets and forecasts by establishing schedules, collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data and recommending plans.
- Act as project manager on major projects, such as new system implementations.
- Manage compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Experience and Skills QUALIFICATIONS AND KEY COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
- High level of initiative, project management and process improvement skills.
