Job Title: Accounting Manager FLSA Classification: Salary Exempt Department: Finance Supervisor: CFOSection I - Position Role StatementThe Accounting Manager is responsible for financial and management reporting, accounting, internal controls, budget preparation and financial policies, procedures and assigned projects in accordance with applicable government standards, guidelines, and regulations. Section II - Essential Activities & Tasks
  • Financial Planning and Governance
    • Develops the annual operating and capital budgets in conjunction with the CFO, Executive Leadership Team, Center Administrators, and other members of corporate management.
    • Participates with interdisciplinary teams (IT, Operations, etc.) for projects with financial implications providing financial expertise and analysis to committees.
    • Audits and ensures compliance in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.

  • Financial Management & Reporting
    • Assists the CFO and other key finance management in developing and monitoring accounting policies and procedures
    • Provides meaningful, timely, and accurate financial information to management for decision-making
    • Consults and educates leaders on budget tracking and analysis. Compiles and analyzes past and current year data to identify and examine trends affecting budget needs.
    • Directs the activities of the Accounting Department with emphasis on timely, accurate and comprehensive support to the organization.
    • Oversees the monthly creation of financial statements for individual centers, all companies and the corporation overall. This includes reporting on the ongoing financial performance of the facilities and Corporate Office relative to required and budgeted performance. Analyzes variances from budget monthly to ensure transactions have been recorded in the proper period and account.
    • Provides interpretation and implementation of accounting policy, and perspectives and effects on new accounting, fiscal and regulatory policies.

  • Compliance and Risk Management
    • Supports the development, and/or review in all internal controls, corporate policies, practices and procedures covering accounting, auditing, banking, budgetary control, cash receipts and disbursements, credits and collections, methods and statistics, financing, payroll procedures and insurance coverage in accordance with governmental laws and regulations.
    • Assists in the analysis and recommendation process of organizational policies, plans and objectives related to financial analysis, control and reporting, accounting, treasury, financial systems and audit matters.
    • Assists with the timely and regular monitoring and analysis of risk exposures throughout the organization, alerts CFO to such exposures, and make recommendations for controlling such risks.

  • Treasury, Cash Management & Regulatory Reporting
    • Oversees capital asset management recording of capital assets with complete and accurate record keeping of fixed asset additions, transfers, adjustments and retirements on both a book and tax basis. Reconciles the capital asset sub-ledger to the general ledger including reconciliation of depreciation, amortization, and gain/(loss) on disposition accounts.
    • Responsible for maintaining, securing, reconciling and reporting on all bank accounts including operational accounts at the centers.
    • Acts as a liaison with outside consultants for audits, tax returns, cost reports, and other designated needs.

    Section IV - Qualifications RequiredEducation
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance Masters of Business Administration, and/or Certified Public Accountant preferred
    Experience
    • 5-10 years of experience in various areas of Accounting and Finance.
    • Health care or long-term care experience preferred
    • Knowledge and experience in capital financing preferred
    • Experience in developing strategic financial planning for short- and long-term goals.
    • Financial reporting and GAAP
    • Experience with financial software systems maintenance and conversions
