Accounting Manager
Area Agency on Aging (AAoA)

Hourly Wage: $24.44/Regular/Full-Time/Supervisory
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all Area Agency on Aging financial reports. Completes complex fiscal management and coordinates with other Yakama Nation programs. Manage multiple Grants & Contracts budget with staggered contract dates and various reporting processes while assuring program compliance. This position will be responsible for maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Assists with grants applications to current and new funders. Works closely with Washington State Department of Social & Health Services Aging and Long-Term Support Administration (ALTSA) and Tribal Programs. Also supervises bookkeepers to ensure transactions are allocated accurately and in timely manner and staff development to handle all functions of financial accounting and reporting. Provide accurate financial information to the Program Manager regularly. Other duties as assigned.
Examples of Work Performed:
The Accounting Manager is responsible for all related financial reporting including A-19, SF-425s, and other report applications.
Prepare and present on multi-part financial reporting on all funding.
Analysis of financial transactions, supporting documents for compliance with governmental accounting. Develop annual budgets with match requirements and complete modifications.
Assist with administrative duties including materials agendas, minute taking, correspondence, travel arrangements and purchase orders.
Completes complex fiscal management and coordinates with other Yakama Nation programs including, but not limited to: Property and Acquisition, Information Technology, Grants and Contracts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of the statutes, theories, practices, and methods of governmental accounting.
Knowledge of computerized accounting reporting systems, Microsoft Office, D365, iSolved software.
Knowledge of administrative management practices, procedures, and positive supervisory techniques Knowledge of Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) reporting and general accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Knowledge of financial management systems and auditing requirements, practices, and policies.
Knowledge of and experience with administrative management practices and procedures.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other department staff, supervisors/managers, elected officials, and the general public.
Ability to present, prepare monthly, quarterly, yearly reports.
Ability to develop standard operating procedures for carrying out the bookkeeping/accounting duties. Ability to manage multiple complex projects and tasks with competing deadlines.
Ability to remain flexible to changes in assignments and handle frequent interruptions.
Ability to meet the public and address problems, issues, and complaints tactfully, courteously, and effectively.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or related field. Three years of supervisory experience.
Must pass a pre-employment background check.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Preferred Requirements:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred but not required.
Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
