OverviewGradient, a Limited Liability Company (LLC) and a wholly owned subsidiary of Geosyntec, operating in multiple states with headquarters in Boston, MA, is seeking a talented and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our 150-person environmental and risk sciences organization. The Accounting Manager will be responsible for all the accounting and financial management functions of the organization, reporting directly to the Gradient Manager. Responsibilities include internal and external reporting, general ledger, GAAP compliance, AR/AP, budget preparation and reporting, and cash management. The ideal candidate would have a bachelor's degree in accounting, knowledge of Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint, and at least 3 years of experience in a managerial role at a professional services firm. This is a part-time position with an expected time commitment of approximately 16 to 20 hours per week, up to 30 hours intermittently.Gradient is an environmental and health risk sciences consulting firm specializing in environmental sciences, human and ecological risk sciences, product stewardship, and life sciences. - Maintain integrity of accrual basis general ledger and prepare monthly and annual journal entries.
- Oversee Accounts Payable function, reviewing vendor invoices and employee expense reports.
- Review Accounts Receivable and work with Principals, Project Managers, and clients to collect A/R on a timely basis.
- Act as the point person to interact with corporate payroll.
- Supervise 2 Accounting staff.Financial Reporting
- Preparation, review, and distribution of weekly cash management and utilization reports, monthly financials, and quarterly analysis.
- Preparation of various ad hoc reports for internal managers.
- Interface with Geosyntec corporate accounting to support consolidation.Budgeting
- Preparation of annual financial budgets including operating budgets.Cash Management
- Prepare weekly cash analysis.Accounting and Financial Systems
- Maintain company accounting and project management system.
- Act as the point of contact for Gradient's ERP transition from Vantagepoint to Infor.
- Collaborate with other managers to define the financial reports needed by project managers and provide system usage training, as needed.Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting (required).
- CPA (preferred).Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in a managerial role (required).
- Knowledge of Deltek Vision or Vantagepoint (preferred).
- Experience in a project-oriented service company (preferred).
- Experience in financial reporting, implementing & running financial application systems, and financial operations (required).
- Supervisory experience (required).
- Interpersonal/communication skills, including tact, diplomacy, and negotiation skills (required).
- Ability to prioritize work and meet tight deadlines.
- Flexibility and creativity in handling requests promptly.
