Job Summary: The Accounting Specialist I will perform basic accounting tasks and assist with maintaining accurate financial records for the company. This entry-level role involves processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, assisting with month-end close procedures, and supporting the accounting team with various administrative tasks. Key Responsibilities:
- Accounts Payable (AP): Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, code expenses, and ensure timely payments.
- Accounts Receivable (AR): Generate customer invoices, apply payments, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and ensure that all discrepancies are addressed.
- Data Entry: Maintain accurate records by entering financial transactions into accounting software.
- Assist with Month-End Close: Support the accounting team in preparing financial reports and closing out the month's accounts.
- Expense Reports: Process employee expense reports and verify receipts.
- Financial Reporting: Help prepare basic financial reports as needed.
- Record Keeping: Maintain organized and up-to-date files for all accounting-related documents.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and government regulations.
- General Support: Assist the accounting team with additional tasks, projects, or research as requested.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role, preferably in a similar position.
- Technical Skills: Proficient with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in financial data entry.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial records.
- Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
