The Accounting Specialist provides billing, administrative and staff support for various programs. This position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties related to internal and external customer service ranging from routine to complex clerical and accounting work. Duties•Accounting - expense tracking, billing/invoicing through QuickBooks, tracking requisitions, purchase orders, assist with billing for projects including sub-consultant invoices and supporting documents. oMaintain accurate documentation for billing customers and audits.oAssist in daily, monthly, and annual activities, including generating financial reports, developing budgets, preparing taxes and assisting with audits and resolving discrepancies.oSpeaking with vendors and suppliers to ensure changes are accurate and payments are received in a timely manner.oCommunicating with clients to discuss account statuses, changes, or discrepancies.oHandle general ledger bookkeeping where necessary.•Technical skills - knowledge of technology/office equipment and willingness to learn new information systems and software; proficiency in the use of QuickBooks, computer applications and MS Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word). Assist with entry and maintenance of data into Excel-based business and financial reports.•Administrative support - directly support senior leadership and other assigned management positions, including calendar management/scheduling of appointments, entering payables, researching accounts receivable, filing, answering phones and back up other departments as needed.•Business skills - display a working knowledge of office practices and procedures.•Problem solving - gather and analyze information to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.•Customer service - satisfy customer needs by providing and delivering professional, helpful, and high-quality service and assistance.•Planning/Organizing - prioritize and plan work activities using realistic action plans.•Verbal/written communication skills - proofread/review correspondence for accuracy and completeness.•Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the company's culture, values and mission.•Ensure compliance with all pertinent regulations and operating standards.•Other duties as assigned. Qualifications•High School Diploma or Equivalent.•Associate's degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred. •Demonstrated computer skills with experience in Microsoft Suite•Experience in accounts payable and receivable.•Experience with QuickBooks preferred.•Experience with government contracts a plus.Security Requirement: This position requires the ability to gain and maintain a security clearance thus meeting eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
