The Accounting Workforce Development Specialist will work in the Apprenticeship and Workforce Innovation unit of the Division of Workforce, Career & Community Education by planning, developing, and assisting in the future creation and expansion of degrees and apprenticeship programs in the accounting and other related fields.
Work Performed
| The Accounting Workforce Development Specialist is embedded within the success of the Workforce Development and Apprenticeship programs. This position will work closely with the Apprenticeship and Workforce Innovation team and the Accounting Department. This individual will help create and develop new programs, travel to, and communicate with local businesses, plan and execute recruiting and business events, administrative tasks, research current and future trends, and other duties as assigned. This individual will work with the Director of Curriculum Services to complete Accounting Associates of Applied Science (AAS) Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) proposal by 6/1/24
Minimum Education Required Associate's degree Minimum Number of Years Experience Required 2 Other Knowledge Required
* Associate's degree or working towards a degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred, preferably in higher education, student affairs, accounting, business, marketing, or workforce development programming.
* Experience working in business development, event planning, higher education, community college experience preferred
* Experience working with diverse populations
* Ability to prepare, compile, write and review reports
* Excellent computer skills
Working Conditions
| This position is grant funded and will work 25 hours per week. May work evening, weekend and have extended hours during peak periods. Extensive follow-up work, database use, responding to inquiries, meetings, etc. Ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility required.
Regular attendance and an ability to work mornings, evenings and/or weekends consistent with college needs.

Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.
