DescriptionPOSITION CANNOT BE FILLED UNTIL 10/01/2024GENERAL SUMMARYThe Accounts Payable Clerk performs tasks involving the processing of purchase transactions, payment of invoices, and maintenance of vendor records. This position provides administrative assistance to vendors, departments, and managers and supports the overall accounts payable functions with a focus on efficiency and accuracy. This position requires attention to detail and the ability to handle a high volume of transactions while adhering to Johnson County policies and procedures.ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.
  • Analyze, research and process billing, fees, refunds, and payments. Verify pricing and discounts
  • Understanding of the County requisition, purchase order and invoicing procedures
  • Respond to vendor and department inquiries and resolve discrepancies
  • Ability to interact effectively with other departments
  • Assist with the reconciliation of payments and monitor vendor accounts for timely payment
  • Generate financial reports that are submitted to Commissioners Court for approval
  • Process reports, bill run and payroll vendors in a timely manner
  • Support the preparation and processing of State and Federal reports; such as Texas Indigent Defense Reporting and 1099's
  • Perform other related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSEducation and ExperienceHigh School diploma or equivalent, with 1-2 years related experience. Combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions listed above can be substituted.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Establish and maintain constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, or managers in the work unit and other departments, as well as with staff of outside entities and other individuals, as applicable to the essential duties and responsibilities
