The purpose of this position is to manage accounting functions including processing accounts payable/receivable, controlling and reconciling accounts. Process payments of all invoices expeditiously and accurately, maintain good vendor relations and timely resolve disputes and discrepancies. This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
* Manages accounts receivable/payable, received invoices and issues purchase orders.
* Ensures internal controls and safeguards are in place related to payment of authorized invoices affecting the financial assets of the airport; ensure compliance with all audit findings to maintain an unqualified audit opinion.
* Processes invoices, check requests, wires and ACH payments for completeness and accuracy in accordance with terms negotiated by APS policies and procedures.
* Reviews discrepancies and verify transactions against weekly check run payment report prior to vendor payment.
* Processes vendor payments including such duties as posting, auditing of invoices, encumbering of purchase orders, reconciling vendor statements and producing requisite reports.
* Maintains accounting ledgers by verifying and posting account transactions.
* Maintain accurate historical records of all documents.
* Files various fiscal transaction documents including purchase orders and paid and unpaid invoices.
* Assists in the preparation of financial or statistical records.
* Conducts regular reconciliations for Hilton Head Island Airport and Beaufort Executive Airport.
* Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
* Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training equivalent to completion of one (1) year of college.
* Over one year and up to and including two years of related experience.
