Hiring Range: $45,905.60 - $58,290.96/Year. It is anticipated the hiring rate offered will be +/- the midpoint range depending on qualifications.Port Corpus Christi Authority (PCCA) is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our finance team! This position will process invoices, manage vendor relationships, ensure the accuracy of financial records. The preferred candidate for this position should be highly organized, detail-oriented, have a strong background in accounts payable processes, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy. This position is under the direct supervision of the Accounting Manager. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Reviews submitted invoices to ensure supporting documentation is complete and accurate
- Verifies general ledger (G/L) coding and obtains appropriate approvals prior to processing for payment
- Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system generated reports to balances
- Reviews and monitors own work to ensure accuracy
- Researches and resolves discrepancies related to purchase orders, contracts, invoices, vendor statements, or payments in a timely and efficient manner
- Supports monthly closing activities, including accrual entries
- Corresponds with vendors and internal employees regarding inquiries related to invoices, payments, and accounts payable matters in a timely and professional manner, while providing supporting documentation and assisting with audits as needed
- Prepares special reports and analysis
- Performs related duties and tasks as assigned
- Adheres to PCCA policies
- CPR certified or the ability to become CPR certified within the first year of employment
- Tier 3 status designation
CANDIDATE PROFILEThe preferred candidate for this position should be a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and time management skills, have advanced analytical skills, capable of consistently accurate work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment. They must possess the following:EDUCATION & CREDENTIALS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- College courses or accounting training preferred
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) during course of employment
- Valid drivers license
EXPERIENCE & JOB KNOWLEDGE
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in accounts payable or a similar finance-related role
- Basic accounting principles knowledge, documentation skills, research and resolution skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills
- Experience in JD Edwards accounting system, Outlook email, and DocuWare electronic storage software is preferred
TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Word and Excel, Outlook and other related applications
- Ability to type and 10 key by touch
- Ability to communicate with vendors and employees in a professional manner
- Ability to maintain good employee relations
- Ability to work well under supervision and meet deadlines
- Customer service-oriented
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL JOB FUNCTIONS
