Position Overview: The Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for ensuring timely collection of payments from customers using skills in project management, organization, and communications. The Accounts Receivable Clerk will track payments, make bank deposits and run regular reports. Responsibilities:
- Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable
- Creates invoices according to company practices; submits invoices to customers
- Maintains and updates customer files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions
- Drafts correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections, identifies delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contacts delinquent accountholders to request payment
- Creates reports regarding the status of customer accounts as requested
- Researches customer discrepancies and past-due amounts
- Reconciles accounts receivable on a periodic basis
- Assists in generating monthly billing statements based on the general ledger
- Assists in reconciling revenue accounts each month
- Copies, files, and retrieves materials for accounts receivable as needed
- Relays changes of information to appropriate employees
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred
- 2-4 years of bookkeeping/accounting experience with an emphasis on accounts receivable
- Good technical accounting and analytical skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Detail oriented with the ability to investigate and resolve problems
- Possess the ability to complete complex tasks with a high level of speed and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong planning and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a high performing team is necessary
