The Center for Earth and Environmental Science at SUNY Plattsburgh is seeking qualified individuals to teach courses in Environmental Science. Potential openings may include courses in Environmental Planning, general Ecology labs and Geographic Information Systems.
Successful candidates will be committed to excellence in teaching in an institution dedicated primarily to undergraduate education. They will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of and sensitivity to diversity and gender issues, as SUNY Plattsburgh is committed to ensuring that its graduates are educated to succeed in an increasingly complex, multicultural, and interdependent world.
Some Adjunct Instructors assigned to laboratories, theaters, or studios (art, theater, science) must participate in mandatory safety training before they can begin work. Training sessions are provided by the College during the first week of each semester. No additional compensation is provided for attendance at the mandatory safety training sessions.
The vita bank exists to provide a pool of candidates who might be available to fill anticipated positions as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Masters degree plus bachelors degree in a natural science related to the environment. Successful candidates will have demonstrated an ability to work effectively and collegially with faculty, staff, and administrators.
Preferred Qualifications:
Masters degree in an environmental or ecological science and demonstrated teaching ability.
