JOB SUMMARY:Under general direction, this position is responsible for delivering high-quality, engaging, and interactive online courses. This role includes developing course materials, fostering a positive online learning environment, and providing timely and constructive feedback to students. Utilize various online tools and technologies to enhance student learning and ensure accessibility and inclusivity in the virtual classroom. Stay current with best practices in online education and participate in continuous professional development.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Instructs assigned classes online, including grading all quizzes, tests, and written assignments.
- Develops and updates course materials and resources to align with learning objectives and student needs.
- Assigns and delivers final grades.
- Regularly communicates with students and monitors their progress.
- Provides timely and constructive feedback to students to support their academic growth.
- Ensures a safe, inclusive, and effective virtual classroom environment.
- Encourages participation in professional development opportunities, either provided by the college or elsewhere.
- Stays current with best practices in online education and integrating new technologies and methods as appropriate.
- Completes all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:Required:- Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution in German or a Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate hours in German. A degree in Teaching of Language is preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven teaching skills with the ability to convey basic concepts and theories practically and comprehensively.
- Ability to recognize and respond to students from culturally diverse backgrounds and be willing to make students active partners in the teaching/learning process.
- Computer literacy and experience using online teaching platforms with a willingness to apply technology and innovative approaches to teaching the specific discipline.
Preferred:- A Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in the teaching discipline.
- Two to five years of teaching experience in a post-secondary institution.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas or Blackboard.
- Experience in developing and delivering online courses.
- All instructors must meet the appropriate credentialing requirements for the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools (SACS).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:This position primarily involves working on a computer for extended periods, requiring manual dexterity to operate standard office machines such as a computer, webcam, microphone, and other equipment necessary for online teaching. The role also includes sitting for extended periods, with occasional requirements to walk, bend, lift, reach up, stoop, and carry items in excess of twenty-five (25) pounds.
