Under the direction of the Associate Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences Development and Alumni Relations, this position provides analytical support of the campaign related activities for UC Davis Health including SOM, Cancer Center and Neuro/Eye Sciences through developing and implementing systems/processes to track campaign progress as it relates to major and principal gift projects. Additionally, this position provides the following: Strategic leadership to the UC Davis Health Campaign Board, leading and developing strategic plans and managing these plans in a manner consistent with professional standards and campus protocols, helping volunteers build effective volunteer boards as well as develop a pipeline for UCDH Board Members and Foundation Board Trustees. This position designs board meetings, activities, and events to strategically highlight UCDH campaign priorities. In partnerships with HSDA AVCs, develops and executes board succession plans and retention strategies. Partnering closely with UCD Foundation Board Secretary and other DEVAR staff members, this position works closely with the Director of Volunteer Engagement and others to: ensure synergies and cohesion between the Foundation Board and the UCDH Campaign volunteer boards, clearly communicating the UCDH visions/goals and expectations and ensuring alignment with the vision of UCDH and HSDA. Strategically develops a pipeline for Trustee candidates, identifying potential Trustees from the UCDH unit boards. Cultivates and recruits new representatives from units boards to serve on the Global Campaign Leadership Council (GCLC). Maintains relationships with outgoing campaign board members and develops personalized, ongoing volunteer plans. Develops UCDH and HSDA wide protocols for identifying, recruiting and orienting volunteers. Partners with and leads discussions with AVCs, development directors on board recruitment, board structure and programming. Manages programmatic planning activities and actively track/report on annual goals and outreach activities. Strategically develops annual plans for board meetings and related activities, including and not limited to an annual board retreat and educational seminars, to maximize engagement and philanthropic support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience / training
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive development experience in a complex organization.
  • Experience in programmatic and analytical support at the executive level.
  • Demonstrated experience in gathering, researching, and analyzing information and recommending or implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Proven experience in the full spectrum of Development including gift policies, cultivation, donor recognition, support group management and administration.
  • Proven experience using public relations practices to provide direction to special programs for outreach to prospective and continuing donors.
  • Computer software experience (Word, Excel, Lotus Notes, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Knowledge of the dynamics of fundraising and the concepts of Development
  • Proven advanced analytical skills to evaluate information, procedures, or situation, to define a problem or objective, identify relevant concerns, recognize alternatives, and formulate logical and objective conclusions.
  • Ability to develop strategies and plans to identify and cultivate prospects and steward donors.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills to prepare reports, summaries, correspondence, briefings, personalized letters, and other materials to dialog clearly and effectively in conversation and at meetings.
  • Proven ability to prioritize assignments and departmental needs and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to make sound independent judgments and complete tasks with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting and working with volunteers.
  • Proven excellence interacting successfully with high level donors, prospective donors, executives, faculty staff and community members.
  • Experience providing strong customer-oriented service and assistance.
  • Proven success in organizing and implementing executive level meetings and special events.
  • Strong sense of ethical conduct and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentially in all matters including those relating to sensitive donor relations issues.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the philosophy of quality service and group process with proven aptitude for working as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate extensively and persuasively to be collaborative, facilitative and to accomplish goals in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters including those relating to sensitive donor relations issues.
  • Demonstrated exceptional administrative, organization and project management skills. Ability to multi-task and work with changing priorities.
  • Strong detail and results driven orientation, follow-through and reliability to complete tasks within assigned timelines. Advanced technical computer skills to produce spreadsheets, reports, presentations, project calendars, correspondence, and templates.
  • Team building skills with the ability to establish on-going relationships. Ability to exercises discretion and independent judgment in decision making, having the ability to make independent choices and make recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience participating in major fundraising efforts, ideally a major comprehensive campaign, in a hospital, college, university, non-profit organization, or other large complex institution.
  • Experience with Advance (AIS), PowerBI, Aggie Travel, DaFis, Aggie Buy preferred.
