Job no:R-000#######Position Title:Administrative AssistantFaculty or Staff:StaffFull Time or Part Time:Part timeIn-Person, Hybrid, or Remote:In-PersonMinimum Starting Rate of Pay:$23.12Rate of pay commensurate with experienceStart Date:11/01/2024Job Description:Department Summary: The Intergroup Dialogue (IGD) Center, a partnership between Academic Affairs and Student Life, provides the Mount Holyoke College community with robust curricular, cocurricular and professional development opportunities in the practice and pedagogy of intergroup dialogue.A key part of the center's mission is to demonstrate the efficacy and flexibility of IGD as a means to build relationships across differences of race and ethnicity, gender and gender identity, religion, political perspective, ability and other factors significant within the Mount Holyoke College community. The IGD Center seeks to become a regional hub for IGD training, serving as a force for social change.Job Purpose: The Academic Department Coordinator will support the development, planning, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of IGD programs and events in alignment with the Center's mission and as it relates to the College's strategic plan. Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Academic Department Coordinator will:
  • Support the work of the IGD Center Director, determined during weekly check-in meetings.
  • Coordinate logistics for campus-wide, regional, and national events sponsored, or co-sponsored, by the IGD Center.
  • Assist in the monitoring and management of the Center's social media presence.
  • Assist in the management and maintenance of the Center budget, including but not limited to: creating expense reports, submitting check requests, reconciling expenses in Workday, and tracking annual spending.
QualificationsQualifications include:
  • Strong budget management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated dependable, reliable, and efficient follow-through on assigned tasks.
  • Effective communication, organizational, and event planning skills.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the varied perspectives that faculty, staff, students, and alums bring to their work, including academic perspectives and experiences deriving from race, socio-economic status, ethnicity, ability, gender, religion, sexuality, and other intersectional identities.
Other Notes:
  • This is a ten-month position - starting September 6, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025.
  • Up to 15 hours/week, with the typical workload 10 hour/week spread across three days/week.
  • The exact work schedule will be determined in consultation with the supervisor.
  • Occasional evening or weekend support may be required to support signature events.
