Job Description1. Keeps various data regarding census/admissions/discharges; distributing information by memo and email.2. Maintains daily and month log of admissions and discharges for the inpatient psychiatry unit (IPU) and updates log when indicated.3. Handles correspondence and mailings, including primary care physician letters post patient discharge.4. Processes school packets including facing of consents to schools and to DCFS. Prepares and sends school billing and processes checks/deposit from schools.5. Requests, picks up, and distributes paper Medical Records to assigned staff and Health Information Management (HIM). Monitors the Medical Record for completeness as necessary, preparing paper medical record content for scanning in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Is familiar with navigating EMR.6. Answers telephones, takes messages and activates paging system to assist callers as appropriate. Resolves routine and complex inquiries in a timely manner. Updates IPU staff communication directory and disaster tree as indicated.7. Responsible for greeting and screening parent and visitors on the IPU and checking in patient belongings.8. Initiates requests for facilities issues/concerns, environmental and equipment repairs. Provides follow up on all requests.9. Processes patient identification photos, collates admission paperwork and equipment repairs. Provides follow up on all requests.10. Creates, updates or revises all unit specific forms as indicated.11. Under the direction of the Managers and/or Unit Director, monitors PAR levels of supplies and forms, re-orders as necessary to maintain adequate available reserves utilizing online ordering systems. Requests needed services and resources from other departments as necessary. Including ordering and distributing food service floor stock, office, medical and other supplies as needed for unit operations.12. Participates in orientation and serves as resource to staff and trainees in navigating unit specific processes.13. Performs additional responsibilities as delegated.14. Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
