Mount Vernon United Methodist Church (UMC) in Toano seeks a detail-oriented and organized Administrative Assistant to oversee the day-to-day operations of the church office. The position is part-time (20 hours per week), Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Responsibilities include supporting the pastor and church leadership; interfacing with UMC district office staff; preparing typed documents and reports; performing database entry; maintaining membership, financial and office records; and performing basic bookkeeping tasks. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows is required. Candidates should have knowledge of basic bookkeeping, familiarity with financial software, and good grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills. Excellent interpersonal skills are a big plus.
