Position Type: Secretarial/Clerical/Administrative Assistant Date Posted: 10/31/2024 Location: District Wide Job Summary: The Secretary of Transportation and Facilities is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of transportation services and the management of school facilities. This position involves coordinating transportation logistics, maintaining facilities, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. This is a full time year round position. Key Responsibilities: 1. Transportation Management:
- Coordinate and schedule student transportation services, including buses and vans
- Monitor and maintain transportation records, including routes, schedules, and student ridership.
- Communicate with parents, staff, and transportation vendors regarding transportation issues and changes.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal transportation regulations.
2. Facilities Oversight:
- Assist in the management and maintenance of school facilities, including classrooms, grounds, and equipment.
- Coordinate repair and maintenance requests with appropriate personnel or contractors.
- Oversee safety inspections and ensure that facilities comply with health and safety regulations.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of facility improvement projects.
3. Administrative Support:
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to transportation and facilities operations.
- Prepare reports and presentations for school administration and the school board.
- Provide administrative support to the transportation and facilities departments as needed.
- Manage budgets related to transportation and facilities operations.
4. Collaboration:
- Work closely with Facilities/Transportation director, Assistant Transportation Director and school administration to ensure effective communication and coordination.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and transportation or facility
- Participate in Transportation and Facilities meetings as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in management or administration preferred.
- Experience in transportation management, facilities management, or a related field.
- Strong organizational and communication skills. Work well with parents, district staff and vendors
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including excel and word
- Proficiency in office skills
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
