This position is with the NW LA Human Service District's Shreveport Behavioral Health Clinic located at 1310 N Hearne Ave. Shreveport, LA 71107. The incumbent serves as the main medical records custodian for the Shreveport clinic. This position requires in-depth knowledge of LDH policies and procedures for record retention as well as HIPAA regulations and guidelines. Provides a wide range of clerical duties that requires independent judgment and knowledge of District and Behavioral Health policies, procedures, rules and regulations. . Assists Administrative Supervisor as needed. Serves as backup to the front desk receptionist and scheduling specialist as needed. Completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the required one year of experience. College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience. NOTE: Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments. NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university. Provides a wide range of clerical duties that requires independent judgment. Organize and manage clients health information ensuring quality, accuracy, and accessibility the Electronic Health Record. Maintains the active and inactive clinical records, including filing and retrieving client files, lab reports, progress notes ad other relevant documentation. Prepares records subpoenaed for court. Process requests for medical records ensuring HIPAA compliant. Receives requests from and issues supplies to clinic staff. Maintains an inventory of supplies for clinical staff. Serves as back-up for the front desk receptionist and scheduling specialist. Processes routine paperwork and/or enters data into a department log or database in the servicing of a client. Prepares, indexes, and scans documents into imaging system; may ensure quality of scanned images Prepares requisitions for the purchase of supplies; may involve entering information into an automated system.
