This position will also provide direct support to the Associate Vice President & Chief of Police.This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct support to the Assistant Vice President & Chief of Police. Serves as the office manager. Drafts and manages correspondence and communications, schedules appointments, calendars, and coordinates travel. Prepares travel arrangements and itineraries and processes travel reimbursements.
  • Compiles TCOLE files, maintains records and other documents for the department. Evaluates documents submitted for Associate VP & Chief of Police's signature. Provides support for long-range planning and scheduling activities. Formulate, interpret, and implement policies, rules, and regulations. Acts as administrator's representative in dealing with third parties.
  • Plans and coordinates logistical and administrative support for events, meetings, or other special functions and provides on-site support.
  • Coordinates and provides guidance to the administrative staff and UPD Support Services. Analyzes requirements for projects or initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation applications.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Planning and organization skills.
Special Requirements:
  • Applicants with equivalent experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree may be considered. One year of the related experience is the equivalent of one college year. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have four years of related experience to meet the equivalency in lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus the minimum required years of experience. Applicants being considered for the equivalency must have a total of six years of experience.
