Purpose of this Position: The Administrative Director of Palliative Medicine is responsible for the overall management of the Hospice of the Piedmont Palliative Medicine Program. The Administrative Director directs, supervises, and coordinates the day-to-day operation of clinical and administrative functions of the program. This position supports and actively participates in fulfilling the mission of Hospice of the Piedmont through excellence in leading palliative care services. Supervises: The Administrative Director supervises the Interdisciplinary Palliative Medicine team in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO). The division of duties include the CMO having primary responsibility for the clinical oversight and education of the medical providers and the Administrative Director for administrative and operational oversight of the program. Responsibilities/General Duties (Including but not limited to): 1. Strategic Leadership of the Program •Work with the CMO and other key stakeholders to oversee a strategic plan for the Palliative Medicine program, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and service to the community in line with Hospice of the Piedmont vision, mission, and values. •Evaluate and support continuous operational and quality improvement. •Oversee the preparation and review of budgets and strategic financial analyses to ensure the program's financial sustainability and productivity within the greater Hospice of the Piedmont organizational structure. 2. Building Community Relationships •Foster community partnerships and alliances that enhance the ability Hospice of the Piedmont Hospice and Palliative Medicine programs to serve patients. •Promote the program through public relations and marketing initiatives, highlight the value of palliative care, and differentiate Hospice of the Piedmont it within the healthcare community. •Develop and maintain customer relations programs, regularly evaluating and improving processes to improve patient, family, and community partner relationships. •Communicate with patients, families, and health care providers to support education about hospice and palliative medicine in the community. 3. Developing Program Quality, Process Improvement Measures, and Operational Procedures •Support and help to write policies, procedures, and operational protocols that enhance patient outcomes and improve the overall efficiency of the Palliative Medicine team. •Establish and maintain systems to ensure compliance with federal, state, and internal regulations and credentialing requirements. •Continuously evaluate and refine quality improvement measures, ensuring operational excellence and adherence to best practices. •Oversee billing processes and financial controls, ensuring accuracy and maintaining financial integrity. •Oversee technological procedures and workflows, including EMR interfaces, charting efficiencies, billing, coding, and communication with external partners. 4. Team Development (Oversight, Management, Mentorship) •Lead, mentor, and manage the interdisciplinary Palliative Medicine team, fostering a culture of collaboration, ongoing professional development, and high employee satisfaction. •Administer the employee appraisal system, identifying core competencies and training needs. •Develop workforce plans and staffing strategies to ensure optimal personnel alignment with program needs. •Ensure continuous staff support through mentorship, empowerment, and effective teamwork. •Support the education of an interdisciplinary rotating cohort of learners from the community. 5. Collaborating with Internal Hospice Partners •Work closely with Hospice of the Piedmont's leadership to address operational, financial, and employee relations needs and the ability of Palliative Medicine to support organizational initiatives. •Collaborate closely with Hospice providers to ensure smooth transition of patient care between Hospice and Palliative programs. Requirements Qualifications: At least 3 years of experience in a clinical practice setting. Experience in the fields of Palliative Care, Hospice, or Home Health Care is preferred. Demonstrated experience and competency with clinical practice quality and processes. Experience with Part B billing. Pursuit of Billing/Coding Certification is desirable. Minimum bachelor's degree in Health, Social Work or Business Administration. A Master's degree in a health or business related field is preferred. The ability to demonstrate superior oral and written communication skills. Ability to organize and manage projects within defined time frame and budget. Work both independently and as part of a team. Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills. Demonstrate organizational skills with ability to delegate and follow up, manage multiple tasks, maintain a positive attitude. Demonstrate a strong work ethic and attention to detail Demonstrate knowledge of Hospice of the Piedmont policies, procedures, systems and objectives, fiscal management and human resource management techniques, health care administration, including managed care administration, governmental regulations and compliance requirements, and knowledge of Part B billing, optimization of billing and credentialing/contract experience with third party payors necessary. Successfully apply logical problem-solving approaches in a busy environment. Demonstrated ability to execute plans to completion.
