The Superintendent of Schools announces an Administrator Apprenticeship opportunity within the Fall River Public
School System.
Position: Administrator Apprentice Position
Job Description: To provide an aspiring administrator an alternative path to principal licensure. Upon successful
completion of the program requirements (described below), candidates will be eligible for Massachusetts licensure as
Principal/Assistant Principal.
Qualifications:
1. BA/BS Degree, Masters Degree preferred.
2. Licensed as an educator within Massachusetts
3. Excellent communication skills
4. Prior experience working to support and work effectively with students and families
5 Must have an excellent attendance record
Candidates with one or a combination of the following prerequisite backgrounds may apply for the apprenticeship.
At least an Initial license in another educational role and three full years employment in a district-wide, school-based, or
other educational setting
or
Three full years employment in an executive management/leadership role
or
Three full years employment in a supervisory, teaching, or administrative role in a private or charter school, higher
education, or other educational setting accepted by the Department of Education.
Candidates with an initial principal license needing a one year induction program with a trained mentor to meet
Department of Education licensure requirements may also apply to the apprenticeship program.
Performance Responsibilities:
Complete a yearlong apprenticeship, working full-time with an experienced building principal;
Successfully complete any coursework or other professional development opportunities as determined by the
district;
Complete the DESE PAL process demonstrating proficiency within the Massachusetts Administrator Performance
Standards;
Successfully complete the Massachusetts Test for Educator Licensure (MTEL) in Communication and Literacy;
and
Meet other licensure requirements as may be determined by the Massachusetts Department of Education.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as required by the principal or the Superintendent of Schools
The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable
alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the
Fall River School Committee.

Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits to be negotiated. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be
established within an individual contract. SALARY RANGE 23-24 55,000 to 85,000
