#CA-SSThe Onboarding Specialist for the Department of Surgery reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer. This position will serve as the Onboarding Specialist for staff and faculty. This position serves as a subject matter expert on executive support functions. This position will be assigned complex analytical duties and will be tasked with providing guidance and input based on policies and established guidelines. Must have the skill and knowledge to make decisions and recommendations that may deviate from the norm. Will perform operational level analysis to identify relevant concerns, factors, patterns, tendencies, and review of relevant information in order to make decisions and carry out assignments. Determines and locates sources for collecting information to develop administrative staff procedure manuals, guides and training tools. Will provide innovative and creative recommendations to resolve routine and non-routine problems and identify areas for improvement, make suggestions, and implement changes. Will require interactions with internal and external contacts within the UC Davis community and will take the lead on managing department-wide projects and seeing them through to completion.Apply By Date December 9, 2024 at 11:59PM; Interviews and recruiting process may occur at any time. - Bachelor's degree and / or equivalent work experience / training
- Experience working in an environment that requires a strong degree of confidentiality, integrity, and good judgment
- Experience and working knowledge of UC Path, Job Builder, Aggie Service, Ecotime, Aggie Buy, Aggie Travel, Travel and Entertainment policies.
- Knowledge of UCD/UCDH policies and Compliance policies.
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate problems, streamline processes, review policies to make decisions, provide recommendations, and develop justifications to resolve problems .
- Demonstrated leadership skills sufficient to effectively recruit, select, train, direct, motivate, evaluate, and recommend corrective action to staff/personnel.
- Strong oral and written business communication skills to produce concise and direct communications, collaborate with a variety of people at all levels of the organization and deal with complex, difficult, and or sensitive topics.
- Knowledge and experience with but not limited to, human resources management and payroll systems, Microsoft Suites, internet, email systems, timekeeping and etc.

- Knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, Disability, ADA, and Worker's Compensation, pregnancy leave and other types of leaves of absences.
- Thorough knowledge of a variety of Human Resources functional areas including but not limited to, employee relations, classification, recruitment and selection, compensation, documentation, performance management, and in-depth knowledge of integrated leaves of absence.
- Knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, Disability, ADA, and Worker's Compensation, pregnancy leave and other types of leaves of absences.

Department Overview The Department of Surgery encompasses a wide variety of surgical specialties. These include bariatric surgery, burn surgery, colorectal surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, hepatobiliary surgery, endocrine surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, transplant surgery, trauma, acute care and surgical critical care surgery, vascular surgery, and oncologic surgery. The Department's extensive surgical expertise, in combination with ongoing teaching and research activities, provide ample resources and advanced surgical techniques for patient care.POSITION INFORMATION
