Position DescriptionMission: Eastern University is a diverse, Christ-centered community preparing graduates to impact the world through faith, reason, and justice . The Admissions Counselor is responsible for recruiting incoming Undergraduate students to Eastern University by promoting the positive and unique qualities the school has to offer. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions, the Admissions Counselor will be assigned a geographical region for recruitment, and be tasked to engage with students and encourage them to enroll at Eastern. This position will entail evaluating academic records, working with students through the admissions process, and making admissions decisions. It will require seasonal travel, as well as occasional evening, weekend, and overnight responsibilities. The selected candidate will join a dynamic and energetic team at a growing Christian university. Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for recruiting students to Eastern University, analyzing academic records, leading students through the admissions process, and making admissions decisions.
Travel to high schools, college fairs, and other promotional events within assigned recruiting territory, and inspire students to apply to Eastern University Build and develop relationships with high school guidance counselors, community based organizations, and prospective students and their families Engage with prospective students and provide accurate and complete information about majors, campus, and student life Conduct informational presentations to small and large groups regarding the admissions process Utilize Customer Relations Management (CRM) system to manage large roster of applicants and admitted students Perform data entry via the CRM and other databases for accurate recordkeeping of all recruitment activity to ensure department goals are met Communicate regularly and effectively with prospective students via phone, email, text message, and in-person Participate in weekly evening call nights during heavier recruitment periods Review applications and related materials, and make informed decisions and recommendations regarding admission Exhibit excellent customer service and foster relationships with students, families, high schools, and Eastern departments Responsible assigned tasks associated with achieving departmental goals Facilitate communications between students and various campus resources, including Financial Aid, Registrar, Housing, Health Center, and Academic Advising Responsible for maintaining comprehensive knowledge of university programs, admissions requirements, and student activities Participate in on-campus recruitment events such as Open House, Accepted Students Day, and Campus Visits Perform additional duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions Other duties as assigned - Embodies values of caring and compassion, justice and integrity, competence and affirmation. - Bachelor's Degree required
- Strong customer service skills
- Proven ability to effectively communicate in both writing and verbally
- Flexible, team-oriented, collaborative, positive work ethic and attitude

- Possess a valid Driver's License for required frequent travel within region
- Experience in higher education enrollment preferred
- Competence in desktop software, spreadsheet and database management is required
- Ability to analyze data and make cogent decisions based on empirical information
- Experience excelling in a high volume, customer service oriented environment preferred
