** The full range for this position is $26.53 - $30.90/hour and will increase each year for longevity and cost of living adjustments.

Essential Functions

+ Develop, lead, design, and implement multiple innovative recreation, sports, arts, culture and wellness programs focused on adult and multigenerational programming.

+ Direct workflow, schedule, and monitor performance of assigned program staff.

+ Develop and monitor proposed program budgets and fee schedules; apply for and administer grants.

+ Oversee program and event schedules; facility rentals; participant communication; marketing and community outreach; on-site evaluations of programs and special events, including coordinating volunteers for events and other programs.

+ Lead and facilitate programs, special events, and various staff trainings; organize logistics; assist with developing goals and objectives.

+ Monitor adherence to safety and risk management policies and procedures; assist with coordinating safety and training for recreation, and sports programs.

+ Conduct follow-up evaluations with program participants and staff; assess program success rates and recommend future changes; develop and implement various measurement tools for evaluating programs.

+ Oversee safety and sanitation of facilities and equipment, including maintenance, repair, and custodial management; manage inventory and purchase equipment and supplies.

+ Develop and maintain partnerships with various community organizations and entities, including schools, businesses, etc.

+ Assist with transporting program participants, as necessary.

+ Perform other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

+ Knowledge of the principles and practices of facilitating recreation and sports programming, and special events, including program development and implementation, fundraising, directing and training staff and volunteers, etc.

+ Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, the principles and practices of public administration, including budgets, planning, policy development and implementation, risk mitigation, etc.

+ Knowledge of, and ability interpret and promote, departmental safety considerations, City safety policies, OSHA standards and guidelines, and the Americans for Disabilities Act.

+ Knowledge of the technical operations and skill in designing and facilitating multiple recreation programs and special events, including ropes courses, sports, and outdoor recreation programs.

+ Skill in using various computer software and databases, including Microsoft 365, and the ability to learn job specific applications and equipment.

+ Ability to gain knowledge in various recreation facilities, including athletic fields.

+ Skill in managing multiple projects while prioritizing tasks with shifting priorities and timeline demands.

+ Skill in communicating, in person and writing, with the proven ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with diverse individuals.

+ Ability to lead/facilitate and coordinate logistics for multiple programs, tournaments, facility rentals, and various other events.

+ Ability to maintain current knowledge, developments, and trends related to specific area of focus and/or assigned projects.

+ Ability to maintain and exhibit integrity and discretion in handling the confidential and sensitive information.

+ Ability to maintain and foster a culture of professionalism, adhere to departmental and City standards and specifications, and support a positive team environment.

+ Ability to participate in a customer focused and team-oriented environment, contributing as lead and collaborator, when necessary.

+ Ability to resolve conflict with facilitating outcomes while maintaining a calm demeanor.

+ Ability to learn City and departmental policies, procedures, and practices.

Working Conditions:

+ Work environment may involve occasional exposure to unavoidable weather conditions, occupational hazards, and physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.

+ Duties may require driving City vehicles to transport youth of all ages to various recreational sites and facilities.

Qualifications and Additional Application Materials

+ Any combination of education and experience equivalent to five (5) years of aquatics or recreation program lead experience, or another relevant field.

+ Must have a valid Montana driver's license with a verified acceptable driving record, or the ability to obtain within 60 days of hire.

+ Must have First Aid/ CPR and Wilderness First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire.

+ Wilderness First Responder certification, preferred.

+ Sports Official or Wellness Program certification preferred.

Community Programs emphasis only:

+ Must have Wilderness First Aid certifications, or the ability to obtain within three (3) months of hire.
