Summary/objective Under direct supervision, the Page shelves and organizes library materials, maintains shelves and performs special projects. Pages also respond to general questions from patrons.Essential functionsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Customer Service Provides excellent customer service to all library patrons Maintains confidentiality of patron information Directs patrons to library areas or staff as appropriate Retrieves library materials for patronsShelf Maintenance Efficiently shelves library materials in the proper location Shifts library materials, as assigned Maintains orderliness of displays and shelvesTeamwork Maintains a collaborative working environment Provides support to department projects, as needed Attends meetings and serves on staff committees, as requested Supports library-wide initiatives, such as SummerREADMiscellaneous Records statistics for library transactions, as required Maintains and increases knowledge and skills through professional development Represents the library at community events, as assigned Performs additional duties and assignments, as requiredPhysical and Environmental FactorsThe incumbent may be exposed to:Physical: Frequent walking, sitting, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and pushing carts. Moving/lifting up to 30 pounds, pushing up to 70 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.Environmental: Typical office setting with no extreme temperatures or fumes. Minimal, if any, exposure to hazardous materials. Exposure to dust.Minimum RequirementsEducation: Must be a minimum of sixteen (16) years of age. Work permit required for students. High School diploma or equivalent preferred.Experience: Entry level. Helpful Skills and Abilities: Effective verbal and interpersonal skills to respond to coworkers, supervisor, and patrons. Organization, prioritizing and coordinating multiple tasks. Basic communication skills.
