In this role, you will play a key part in shaping the future of connected pet care by developing cutting-edge firmware and algorithms for technologies that are well ahead of market trends.Summary:You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, product managers, and designers, to explore new sensing technologies and novel features for pet care devices. Your expertise in embedded systems, IoT, and low-power design will help bring advanced concepts to life, enabling us to create next-generation products that deliver exceptional user experiences and improve the well-being of pets.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as deemed necessary.Architects and implements technical solutions on embedded systems to support IoT smart pet product research and development.Works with AWS cloud engineering team on data management for concept prototypes.Develops desktop applications with a focus on test data and recording.Fixtures software development.Manages code release process for the R&D embedded function.Conducts integration and system-level testing.Programs, solves, and debugs with detailed knowledge in machine control and multi-threaded / multi-core programming environments, software applications, and device layering programs.Provides information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development issues.Documents and demonstrates solutions by developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code comments and clear code.Stays up to date with state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.Will perform additional responsibilities when required.Requirements:What You'll Bring:BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field5+ years of Embedded Systems ExperienceSolid understanding of:C/C++, Bare Metal, FreeRTOS (or similar)Microcontroller and sensor HW selectionLow-level and device driver developmentPWM, UART, I2C, SPI, SDIO, MIPI, USB, BLE, and WiFiAWS IoT Device SDK (or similar) and MQTT protocolJTAG / ICEExperience with Test Driven Development methodologyExperience with version control tools such as BitBucket, etc.Experience with power supplies, meters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, etc.Experience with a variety of sensors, DSP, driver and algorithm developmentExperience with board bring up and reworkExperience with ST and Espressif MCUs and their respective development ecosystemsExperience with successfully taking products to marketMaintains confidentiality of proprietary informationAbility to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptionsA high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and ability to motivate othersAbility to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleaguesComfortable with office pets (cats, dogs)Not Required but Nice to Have!Experience developing electronic subsystems and board-level designsExperience with cable harness fabrication and documentationExperience with edge MLExperience with Embedded Linux (Yocto or similar)Experience with Bootloader developmentExperience with implementing OTA functionalityBasic understanding of mechanical systemsExperience in designing products for consumer health or pet care markets.Project management experience Benefits & Purrks:Join a tenacious, inventive company that empowers team members to chart their own path, lead by grounding decisions in the “why”, and has a strong sense of empathy and openness to new perspectives.
