Job Summary: Mechanical Engineering is searching for a Chief Engineer to work in the Radar Design Department with our Advanced Technology Sensor Development team in our Northeast Facilities. Must be able to lead program proposal, development and testing of the Advanced Integrated Surface Sensors portfolio. Frequent travel will be required as the CE will be the lead technical interfaces driving design rigor, development, integration, test and demonstration across geographically diverse Raytheon performing organizations (Northeast, DC, Tucson, El Segundo, Dallas, others) to achieve program goals. Flawless execution during early phases is needed which will drive the solutions and strategy for follow-on phases and new franchises. In this role, the CE will need to demonstrate the capability to develop and govern technical execution of product development and technology insertion roadmaps with new customers. With developing customer relationships, the CE will drive new business franchises and new adjacent programs with this customer. The CE will also be responsible for establishing/maintaining an effective relationship with internal and external technical and programmatic stakeholders while developing competitive proposals. Strong demonstrated interpersonal and leadership skills are required to help drive the team to meet program milestones. This role requires a trusted technical voice to influence future franchise growth across business units. The Chief Engineer needs to ensure aggressive program cost, staffing, and schedule constraints are balanced while developing new, innovative technical solutions that provide the next generation performance required by the customer. This is an onsite position, located in Marlboro, MA Responsibilities to Anticipate: Assist in management of product vision, strategy, and goals to align to meet Programs/Customers milestones; facilitate conflict resolution. Ensure technical integrity and engineering execution across the IPT and other functions to meet and/or exceed cost, schedule, and technical requirements. Technical point of contact with senior customer counterparts, internal senior program management and engineering leadership. Support the capture of new business including proposal writing and execution and influence technical and product line roadmaps, ensuring they are reflected in program planning and execution Drive positive change within the production environment as a key stakeholder in Failure Review Boards, FRACAS activities and other continuous improvement efforts Technically engage with major subcontractors and partners to ensure product deliverables Direct a team of multi-disciplined engineers in support of issue resolution Requires ability to travel domestically 25% of the time including weekly travel to Portsmouth, RI Qualifications You Must Have: Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar Engineering discipline. An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: A Master's Degree can account for 2 years of experience as required for this position. A Ph.D. can account for 4 years of experience as required for this position. 20 years of relevant professional experience, including prior experience in a technical leadership role and including experience across the development lifecycle. Includes systems and sub-systems Prior experience with leading and conducting trade studies, system development and design, systems requirements development and management, system integration and test, and production support. Experience as a technical leader who can develop work plans and drive execution in a TRAD environment Experience leading complex engineering teams Experience leading rapid prototyping with activities including design, procurement, build, site test, and customer attended demonstrations; successful demonstrations are critical to win follow-on scope An active and in-scope DoD Top Secret US security clearance with SCI eligibility Qualifications We Value: Direct experience with radars, components of radars, and radar subsystems Direct experience with Formal TDP release Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills Experience in leading and executing the design and development of complex system architectures Demonstrated experience across the product lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, and production Demonstrated experience and ability to interact with and influence Department of Defense (DoD), and/or commercial and non-traditional customer sets Proven ability to develop effective external customer relationships to ensure customer satisfaction and continued business Direct experience with Engineering Risks and Opportunities (R&O) Management Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or related discipline Experience with technical advisory disposition for Export / Import (EXIM) Requires expert knowledge of multiple work areas typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. Expert knowledge of market with the ability to identify best practices and how to best utilize within RTX. Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 12 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 10 years experience Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
